Saddler with specialisation in fine tailoring
Fine bag making is a craft that has been cultivated by PICARD for generations. In Germany, it has become very rare in the meantime. For us, it is a matter of the heart that the art of fine linen craftsmanship is preserved in this country for a long time to come. To meet this demand, we still train apprentices on site in Obertshausen. During the three-year apprenticeship to become a saddler specialising in fine leatherwork, you will learn the traditional production of high-quality small leather goods and leather bags. The activities include: Cutting and punching, sharpening and hammering in edges, assembling parts, fitting hardware (locks, bows, buckles) and all sewing and quilting work. In addition, there is the making of sketches and the selection of materials. Here you also learn about the exciting field of design and product innovation. The vocational school, a centre of excellence for saddlers, is located in Mainburg (Bavaria) and is attended with block teaching. During this time, you are accommodated with other trainees in the attached dormitory.
Industrial clerk
Another apprenticeship with us in Obertshausen near Offenbach is the training as an industrial clerk. In the course of the two-and-a-half to three-year apprenticeship, you go through 13 different departments at our company to get to know each specialist area. This way you understand the process of the interlocking departments much better and you have great variety. The 13 departments are: Purchasing, Import, Customer Service, Control Centre, Logistics Centre, Marketing, Production, Accounting, Shipping and all sales departments: B2B, retail, export and corporate. In addition, there are internal training courses, presentations and trainee meetings to round off the programme. In addition, PICARD offers numerous introductory events and "trainee mentors" who make the start easier. Together you can do more and everything is easier.
We attach great importance to all trainees passing through as many departments as possible in order to understand the processes in our company as a whole. That way you get variety and can get to know as many things as possible and of course you are always close to the latest trends in the fashion world.
