Spende im Wert von über 50.000 € für die Flutopfer im Ahrtal

Donation worth over €50,000 for flood victims in the Ahrtal

At a fundraising event on October 17, 2021, we provided about 700 bags for the flood disaster victims.

We would like to support the many victims of the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley (Rhineland-Palatinate). At least 17,000 people lost their belongings due to the floods in July 2021, and the damage is considerable. The Ahr flooded large parts of the riparian areas due to heavy rains and continuous rainfall, and even swept some people to their deaths. The victims have to suffer losses of people and homes. The flood control center estimates that the Ahr had risen to a historic record level of over 7 meters. With a fundraiser we want to contribute and support especially the local families.

On October 17, the fundraising event "Beaming Children's Eyes" with a focus on children and families took place in Dom-Esch, where we gave away around 700 bags, backpacks and purses worth over €50,000. This was to give something back to those affected and provide a little joy.

"Since almost all basic necessities are lacking in the flood areas, it is great that PICARD provides bags, backpacks and fanny packs. It is important to us that the donation is only handed out to those directly affected and ensures shining children's eyes," says Sven Wassermann, organizer of the event.
